(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Trump administration says they’re moving the U.S. Forest Service headquarters to Salt Lake City. The agency said it’s part of a restructuring plan so leadership can be closer to the forests. Utah Governor Spencer Cox called it a big win for Utah and the West. He praised the agency’s move away from a regional approach to a state-based model. But the move might take years to complete, and that could pose hurdles. In 2019, the previous Trump administration moved the Bureau of Land Management to Grand Junction, Colorado. The Biden administration later moved it back to Washington, D.C. but left a major hub in Grand Junction.
