Tuesday, various Utah-based college football standouts were named as Athlon Sports preseason All-Americans.

BYU representatives include junior center James Empey (4th team) and sophomore kicker Jake Oldroyd (4th team).

The University of Utah is represented by junior linebacker Devin Lloyd and junior receiver Britain Covey.

Utah State University is represented by senior wide receiver/kick returner Savon Scarver (3rd team; kick returner).

Oldroyd made 78 percent of his field goal attempts (32-41) and 97.1 percent (101-104) of his PAT’s last season for the Cougars.

For the Utes, Lloyd has posted 8.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, 21 tackles for a loss and 145 net tackles during his career.

In 2020, Covey netted 267 scrimmage yards and three total scores.

For the Aggies, Scarver averaged 31.4 yards per kick return and returned one kick for a score. For his career, the Las Vegas native has averaged 28.7 yards per kick return and posted six scores via kick returns.
