SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, University of Utah football confirmed fall camp starts August 4.
This will be preceded by Pac-12 media day Tuesday July 27.
The Utes will be represented at media day by head coach Kyle Whittingham, junior receiver Britain Covey and junior linebacker Devin Lloyd.
All of the Utes’ practices for fall camp will be closed to the public.
Among Utah’s storylines for fall camp are who will be the starting quarterback.
Vying for the position are Texas transfer, sophomore Cameron Rising, graduate transfer Charlie Brewer from Baylor, freshman transfer Ja’Quinden Jackson (Texas) and true freshman Peter Costelli (Redondo Beach, Calif.; Mission Viejo H.S.)
The Utes return all five offensive line starters from the spring and have added two more offensive linemen in the offseason: Michael Mokofisi of Woods Cross, Utah and Zereoue Williams of Phoenix.
Covey will be joined in the receiving corps by juniors Solomon Enis and Jaylen Dixon.
In the Utes’ backfield, freshman Micah Bernard is the top returner. Last season, Bernard averaged 5.1 yards per carry.
The Utes’ tight ends are bolstered by juniors Brant Kuithe (a 2-time All-Pac 12 tight end), Cole Fotheringham and Dalton Kincaid.
On the defensive line, Utah boasts preseason All-American candidate junior Mika Tafua, seniors Viane Moala and Hauati Pututau and freshman Tennessee Pututau.
Lloyd and fellow junior Nephi Sewell headline the Utes’ linebacking corps.
In the secondary, the Utes feature experience in freshman Clark Phillips III and sophomores JaTravis Broughton and Malone Mataele at cornerback and senior Vonta Davis at safety.
At kicker, the Utes return first-team All-Pac 12 performer, sophomore Jadon Redding (who made all 8 of his field goal attempts and all 17 of his PAT attempts last season), tying for first nationally in field goal percentage.
