Richfield Boys Golf Win 16th State Title

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah-The Richfield Wildcats won a thrilling 3A Boys Golf State Tournament Thursday, outdistancing second place Morgan by just three strokes for their 16 all time boys golf title. Richfield trailed Morgan by 1 stroke after day 1 of the tournament, but were four strokes better on day 2, finishing with a combined score of 570 compared to the Trojans 573. Carbon finished in third place, followed by Union. Juab rounded out the top five with a score of 608. Delta finished in eighth place.

Individually Morgan senior Lance Loughton won the top medalist honors with a 4-under par 136. Cayson VanBeekum of Ben Lomond placed second one stroke behind. Richfield’s Pace Mullen and Morgan’s Jace Benson tied for third at 2-under par and Carbon’s Dayton King rounded out the top five at 1-under par. Max Albrecht of Richfield placed sixth, while his teammate Kaylen Kelsey tied for ninth with Juab’s Crue Cowan and Delta’s Caden Meinhardt.
