STANSBURY PARK, Utah-The Morgan Trojans had a huge second day to come from 12 strokes down to win the 3A Boys Golf State Championship.
Morgan shot 8-under par as a team on the second day to finish the tournament 5-over par to win by four strokes over Juab, which finished in second place a 9-over par. Richfield led after day 1, but finished in third place at 26-over par. Union came in fourth at +37 and Carbon rounded out the top five at +40. Delta came in sixth place, while North Sanpete finished in ninth.
Individually Juab senior Denver Douglas took state, shooting 12-under par to win by six strokes. Caleb Rees of Morgan placed second with a -6, followed by his teammate Jace Benson at -5. Richfield junior Max Albrecht placed fourth at 4-under par and Juab’s Crue Cowan rounded out the top five, finishing even par. Jorgen Southwick of Richfield finished tied for ninth at 6-over par.
