Haams confirmed that playing professional basketball fulfills a childhood wish he has always had.
During his only season playing for the Cougars, in 2020-21, Haarms became the West Coast Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Haarms averaged 11.3 points and 5 rebounds per game for BYU last season.
Despite attempts by head coach Mark Pope and assistant Chris Burgess to play for the Cougars for another season, Haarms opted for the chance to play professional basketball.
During a collegiate career at BYU and Purdue, the 7-3 native of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, averaged 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a collegian.
