Salt Lake Sues Feds Over Immigration Warehouse

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County are suing the federal government over a proposed immigration detention center. The federal lawsuit names the U-S Department of Homeland Security and U-S Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The city and county claim the Trump administration violated several federal laws during a rush to convert a warehouse into an immigration center. Salt Lake City’s mayor said the proposed facility would be inhumane and would drain the city of massive amounts of water. So far, DHS has not responded to the lawsuit.
