(Salt Lake City, UT) — It’s possible that a mass detention center is being planned for Salt Lake City after Immigration and Customs Enforcement bought a massive building. ICE paid over 145-million dollars for the 833-thousand square foot warehouse that sits on about 25-acres. It’s five miles southwest of Salt Lake International and is located south of Interstate 80. Federal officials have not yet commented, so there’s no confirmation that the site will be used for mass detention. But critics are convinced that is the plan. Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson said: “We cannot allow aggressive and often unlawful federal enforcement tactics to take root in our community.”
