High winds caused damage and multiple power outages in Sanpete County Friday afternoon. Gusts at the Mid-Utah radio station in Manti topped out at 64 miles per hour and sustained winds blew 45 to 55 miles per hour as the massive weather front passed over. Power from Salina to Moroni has been affected with five 46,000-volt transmission power poles down west of Ephraim and other damage throughout the county. One of the giant pine trees in the Manti Cemetery was also a victim of the wind. According to the Rocky Mountain Power website, power should be restored to most resident of the county this evening; however, a construction crew from Rocky Mountain Power is headed to Ephraim and will work through the night to restore power there.
