Monday, Utah Tech men’s basketball junior forward Jaylen Searles swept the Western Athletic Conference’s TicketSmarter Player and Newcomer of the Week awards.

Searles averaged 23 points and shot 69 percent per game in the Trailblazers’ wins over Southern Utah and California Baptist.

This included a career-high 33-point performance for Searles in the win over the Lancers Saturday.

The Seattle native is averaging 10.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this season for 10-14 Utah Tech.

Searles and his Trailblazers teammates return to action Thursday by visiting Grand Canyon as the WAC season continues for both squads.
