State Championship Game @ SVC
RICHFIELD, Utah-Cache Eyre netted 16 points and the No. 1 Panguitch Bobcats bested No. 3 Piute 58-46 to win the 1A state championship Saturday night at the Sevier Valley Center. The Bobcats shot 52 percent (22-42) for the game and 86 percent (12-14) at the foul line in victory. Brooks Dalton’s 13 points led the Thunderbirds in defeat. This is Panguitch’s 9th all-time state championship in boys basketball. The Bobcats have won state championships in 1924, 1957, 1990, 1998, 2001, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2023.
3rd-4th Place @ SVC
RICHFIELD, Utah-Chance Lazenby posted 21 points and 6 rebounds, including the last eight points of the game for Tabiona, as the No. 4 Tigers got past No. 7 Wendover 56-54 to achieve third place at the 1A state tournament Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Raudel Munoz posted 17 points on 6-8 from the field in the loss for the Wildcats.
5th-7th Place @ SVC
RICHFIELD, Utah-Hunter Pace posted 18 points and 6 rebounds on 5-8 from the field and No. 9 Rich achieved 5th place with a 52-49 win over No. 2 Manila Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Tuck Davis had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the loss for the Mustangs.
6th-8th Place @ Richfield High School
RICHFIELD, Utah-Treyson Clark had 20 points and the No. 13 Bryce Valley Mustangs finished sixth at the 1A state tournament with a 41-34 win over Monticello at Richfield High School Saturday. Landon Ewart’s 10 points led the Buckaroos in the loss.
Girls Basketball
State Championship Game @ SVC
RICHFIELD, Utah-Andee VanDyke posted 12 points and the No. 4 Wayne Badgers outlasted No. 7 Tabiona to win the 1A state girls basketball championship with a 29-26 win Saturday evening at the Sevier Valley Center. Mersadie Rhodes had 8 points for the Tigers in the loss. This is Wayne’s second-all-time state championship in girls basketball, breaking a 19-year drought. The Badgers have now recorded state titles in 2004 and 2023.
3rd-4th Place @ SVC
RICHFIELD, Utah-Janni Hoyt’s 22 points and 6 rebounds led the No. 3 Valley Buffaloes to a third-place finish by downing No. 1 Rich 43-37 at the Sevier Valley Center Saturday. Haydee Pugmire posted 12 points and 9 rebounds for the Rebels in the loss.
5th-7th Place @ SVC
RICHFIELD, Utah-Raemi Nez posted 14 points on 5-10 from the field and the No. 5 Monument Valley Cougars edged No. 6 Piute 50-48 to earn 5th place Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center to conclude the 1A state tournament. Saige Remund had 15 points on 7-9 from the field in the loss for the Thunderbirds.
6th-8th Place @ Richfield High School
RICHFIELD, Utah-Kassali Wall’s 11 points led the way and the No. 9 Manila Mustangs downed No. 10 Bryce Valley 35-29 to earn sixth place at the 1A state tournament Saturday at Richfield High School. Shandi Syrett and Haven Syrett had 7 points apiece in the loss for Bryce Valley in the battle of the Mustangs.
