Weber State Football’s Mortensen/Morgan Earn Big Sky Player of The Week Honors

FARMINGTON, Utah-Monday, Weber State football standouts, senior linebacker Conner Mortensen and junior punter Mackenzie Morgan were named the Big Sky Conference Defensive and Special Teams players of the week, respectively.

Mortensen, an Overton, Nev. native, posted 11 stops, including nine solo tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss.

Mortensen also had one pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in the Wildcats’ 20-15 win over Idaho State Saturday.

This is Mortensen’s second player of the week honor during this spring season.

Morgan, a native of Trigg, Australia, averaged 51.6 yards per punt in Weber State’s victory over the Bengals.

The transfer from Division I FBS North Carolina State is averaging 40.9 yards per punt this season for the Wildcats.

Saturday’s win clinched the Wildcats’ fourth-straight Big Sky Conference title. The 5-0 Wildcats are ranked No. 2 in the nation.

The NCAA Division I FCS playoff selection show is April 18 at 9:30 am. The playoffs are to commence April 24.
