Weber State Football Picked No. 1 In Big Sky; SUU Football No. 12

FARMINGTON, Utah-Thursday, the first day of Big Sky Football media days occurred with the football polls, consisting of media and coaches polls, unveiled.

Weber State was picked No. 1 in both polls. Symmetrically, Southern Utah was picked No. 12 in each poll.

In the media poll, the Wildcats received 546 votes, including 28 first place votes. Montana was picked second, receiving 496 votes and eight first place votes. Montana State was picked third with 493 votes and six first place votes.

Eastern Washington was selected fourth, receiving 438 votes and one first-place vote. Sacramento State was picked fifth, netting 389 votes. UC Davis was selected to finish sixth, receiving 325 votes and one first-place vote.

Portland State was slated to finish seventh as the Vikings netted 274 votes and Idaho was picked to finish eighth. The Vandals checked in with 273 votes.

Northern Arizona was selected ninth as the Lumberjacks received 238 votes. Cal Poly was slated to finish 10th, receiving 206 votes. Idaho State was picked to finish eleventh as the Bengals received 133 votes. The Thunderbirds received 105 votes and Northern Colorado, coached by first-year head coach Ed McCaffrey, was slated to finish in 13th place in the conference. The Bears received 88 votes.

The coaches poll saw the Wildcats in first place, having netted 135 votes and seven first-place votes.

Montana is second in the coaches poll with 128 votes and three first-place votes.

Montana State is third in the coaches poll. The Bobcats have 121 votes and one first-place vote.

Eastern Washington is third in the coaches poll. The Eagles netted 118 votes and one first-place vote.

Sacramento State checked in at fourth in the coaches poll. The Hornets received 99 votes and one first-place vote.

UC Davis is sixth with 83 votes. Northern Arizona is seventh (68 votes), Portland State is eighth (67 votes), Idaho is ninth (66 votes), Cal Poly is 10th (46 votes), Idaho State is 11th (37 votes) and the Thunderbirds netted 33 votes to be slated 12th in the coaches poll. Northern Colorado is 13th with 13 votes and, symmetrically is in 13th place in this poll.
