Waterford Wins 2A Boys Golf State Championship; Beaver Comes in 2nd

STERLING, Utah-Waterford won the 2A Boys Golf State Title Thursday at Palisade State Park Golf Course by one stroke over the Beaver Beavers, which came in second.

Waterford finished the tournament at 75-over par, while Beaver finished at 76-over par. American Heritage came in third at +95, Rowland Hall moved up a spot on day 2, finishing with a +96 and South Sevier rounded out the top five with a +113. Millard finished in eighth place and Kanab came in 10th.

Individually North Summit senior Bradley Woolstenhulme took home medalist honors with a 5-over par tournament. Kanab sophomore Ray Capson finished in second at 9-over par. Cameron Batt of North Summit, Henry Damico of Rowland Hall and McCoy Jones of Enterprise all tied for third with a 10-over par score to round out the top five.

Beaver’s Taven Young came in sixth, Millard’s Derk Memmott finished seventh and Kyler Moss of Beaver placed 10th.

This is Waterford’s seventh all-time boys golf state championship, but the first since 2004.
