UVU Women’s Soccer Competes Well on Costa Rican trip

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica-Tuesday, the Utah Valley women’s soccer team completed its international trip to Costa Rica, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Costa Rican national team at the San Sebastian Sports Complex of San Jose.

The Wolverines were successful, however, in downing Costa Rican squads San Carlos and Moravia. In going 2-1 on this international trip. Utah Valley scored a net 15 goals and surrendered only two goals on their trip.

Wolverines head coach Chris Lemay stated that realistically, his squad should have beaten the Costa Rican national team.

Lemay also stated the Costa Ricans have “a great chance to play in the next World Cup.”

Thus, all things considered, Lemay deems this a “great experience for our team.”

This was the first international journey in program history and the Wolverines were able to see a litany of historical and cultural venues.

The Wolverines will reconvene for practice for the fall season in August and will travel to Pocatello, Idaho August 13 to face the Idaho State Bengals in an exhibition match.
