Thursday, Utah Tech and Weber State football each had representatives on the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List. This award is annually presented to the best defensive player at the NCAA FCS level. It is named after the former Grambling State and Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle who was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992.

The Trailblazers are represented by junior defensive lineman Syrus Webster, a former West Jordan High School star.

Last season, Webster posted 5.5 sacks and 10 tackles for a loss.

The Wildcats are represented by star senior linebacker Winston Reid and senior defensive back Maxwell Anderson.

Reid is a former Copper Hills High School star who posted 68 tackles last season.

Anderson had 16 passes defensed and five interceptions last season.
