SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, Utah football named its team captains and leadership council for the 2023 season.
The team captains for the Utes are senior quarterback Cameron Rising, redshirt senior tight end Brant Kuithe, junior safety Cole Bishop and junior linebacker Karene Reid.
Reid is also a former American Fork High School star.
The leadership council, which is a tradition started by head coach Kyle Whittingham last season, consists of Bishop, Rising, Kuithe and Reid as well as junior offensive lineman Keaton Bills, a former Corner Canyon High School star, sophomore tailback Ja’Quinden Jackson, junior defensive end Connor O’Toole, junior defensive tackle Junior Tafuna, a former Bingham High School star, junior offensive lineman Sataoa Laumea, sophomore linebacker Lander Barton, a former Brighton High School star, sophomore safety Sione Vaki and junior receiver Devaughn Vele.
The Utes start their season August 31 by hosting the Florida Gators at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
