Utah Football Enjoys Productive Monday

SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, University of Utah junior offensive lineman Nick Ford (offensive line player of the week) and sophomore tailback Tavian Thomas (offensive player of the week) earned a pair of weekly Pac-12 awards.

Following the Utes’ 44-24 rout of UCLA Saturday, Ford moved to left guard from center and played a key role in Utah amassing 469 yards in the win against the Bruins.

Thomas ran for a career-best 160 yards and a school-record four touchdowns for the Utes.

Additionally, Utes star linebacker, junior Devin Lloyd, was named a semifinalist for the 2021 Butkus and Chuck Bednarik Awards Monday.

Lloyd is one of 16 semifinalists nationally for the Butkus Award and is among 18 candidates for the Bednarik Award.

The Butkus Award is annually awarded to the top linebacker in college football and the Bednarik Award is annually presented to the best defensive player in college football.

Lloyd leads the Utes in total tackles (71), tackles for a loss (14) and sacks (6).

He leads the Pac-12 in sacks per game, with 0.75.

The 5-3 (4-1 in Pac-12 play) Utes return to action Friday at Stanford.
