SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, University of Utah head football coach Morgan Scalley announced the hiring of Luke Wells as the Utes’ new tight ends coach.

Wells comes to Utah from Kansas State where he served as the Wildcats’ tight ends coach in 2025.

Wells has also served as the tight end/receivers coach at Texas Tech (2019-21) and as the co-offensive coordinator/recruiting coordinator at Utah State (2013-2016) and as the receivers/tight ends coach at Iowa State (2009-12).

Prior to that, Wells was a graduate assistant/tight ends coach at Louisiana-Monroe.

Wells played quarterback at Oklahoma (1997-1999) and is a 2002 Oklahoma graduate.

Wells is the final coach to join Scalley’s staff.
