Also receiving this distinction is University of Utah senior quarterback Drew Lisk.

Whitworth, a 6-4 300-pound native of Temecula, Calif., and Lisk, a 6-1, 203-pound native of Draper, Utah (a product of Jordan High School) are among the 199 semifinalists for this award across all divisions of NCAA Football. This includes NCAA FBS, NCAA FCS, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III.

The durable Whitworth has started all 42 games he has played as a collegian for the Wildcats while Lisk is among the candidates to start at quarterback this season for the Utes, per statements made Thursday by Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham.

This award honors academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

The Irving, Texas-based National Football Foundation will announce 12 to 14 finalists in November.

For those who achieve this distinction, each will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2020 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class presented by Fidelity Investments.
