CEDAR CITY, Utah-Late Wednesday, Southern Utah University head men’s basketball coach Todd Simon was named as a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award.
This honors those who are successful on the basketball court and display moral integrity off of the court.
The award is named in honor of Prosser, who was 291-146 (.666) as the head coach at Loyola (Md.) (1993-1994), Xavier (1994-2001) and Wake Forest (2001-2007).
Prosser passed away in July 2007 at his Wake Forest office after a morning jog.
Simon has led the Thunderbirds to their first all-time No. 1 seed in the Big Sky Conference Tournament and their best winning percentage (19-3, .864) as a Division I program (1988-present).
Simon is 72-81 (.471) in his fifth season as the Thunderbirds’ head coach.
SUU’s Big Sky Tournament slate commences Thursday morning against Northern Colorado for an 11:00 am tipoff at the CenturyLink Arena of Boise, Idaho.
