DENVER-Tuesday, the Western Athletic Conference named Southern Utah senior guard Tevian Jones as its player of the week.

Jones, a native of Chandler, Ariz., averaged 20.5 points in a 79-75 win at New Mexico State and a 94-88 overtime victory over Texas-Rio Grande Valley for the Thunderbirds.

Jones is averaging 19.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for SUU this season.

The 10-5 (2-0 in WAC play) Thunderbirds return to action this week with a Texas two-step as they visit Tarleton State and Abilene Christian.
