3A State Tournament @ Southern Utah University
State Championship Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Bracken Saunders netted 28 points and 7 rebounds on 11/15 from the floor and 3/4 behind the arc as the No. 1 Morgan Trojans overpowered No.3 American Heritage 64-51 Saturday at the America First Event Center on the campus of Southern Utah University to win the 3A state championship. Jake Hansen added 23 points and 5 rebounds on 8/14 from the floor in the win for Morgan.The Trojans shot 56 percent from the floor in victory. Jackson Black’s 12 points led the Patriots in the loss. This was Morgan’s sixth all-time state title in boys basketball. Morgan has state championships in boys basketball in 1974, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2025 and 2026.
3rd-4th Place Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Jorgen Southwick posted 28 points and 5 rebounds on 10/20 from the floor and the No. 2 Richfield Wildcats hammered No. 12 Grantsville 71-38 at the America First Event Center Saturday to secure third place at the 3A state boys basketball tournament. Cole Sparks led the Cowboys in the loss with 8 points.
5th-6th Place Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Brody Cleaver netted 13 points on 5/9 from the floor and 2/2 behind the arc as the No. 6 Delta Rabbits bested No. 8 Canyon View 59-37 to secure 5th place at the 3A state tournament Saturday at the America First Event Center on the campus of Southern Utah University. Jeter Sanders led the Falcons in the loss with a game-high 19 points.
1A State Second Round
MANILA, Utah-Teague Goodman and Kale Chowning scored 28 points apiece and the No. 4 Manila Mustangs blitzed No. 13 Whitehorse Saturday in the second round of the 1A state playoffs. Adam Joe led the Raiders with 15 points in the loss. Manila next faces No. 5 Panguitch Thursday at 10:00 am in the state quarterfinals at the Lifetime Activities Center (Bruin Arena) on the campus of Salt Lake Community College of Taylorsville.

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Sarah Ledio’s 15 points on 7/11 from the floor and the No. 5 Layton Christian Eagles defeated No. 6 Morgan 44-40 to win their first state championship in girls basketball in school history by winning the 3A state title at the America First Event Center on the campus of Southern Utah University. Makayla Williams led the Trojans in defeat with 9 points.
3rd-4th Place Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Lisa Richards led the way with 16 points and 14 rebounds and the No. 8 Union Cougars outlasted No. 7 Grantsville 47-45 to secure third place at the 3A state tournament Saturday at the America First Event Center on the campus of Southern Utah University. Sadee Castagno recorded 17 points on 6/11 from the floor and 4/5 from range in defeat for the Cowboys.
5th-6th Place Game
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Joslyn Christiansen posted 20 points and No. 1 Delta outlasted No. 2 North Sanpete 51-47 to secure fifth place Saturday at the America First Event Center on the campus of Southern Utah University. Mariah Schlappi’s 18 points led the Hawks in the loss.
1A State Second Round
RANDOLPH, Utah-Molly Weston netted 21 points and the No. 4 Rich Rebels dismantled No. 13 Tintic 68-31 Saturday in the second round of the 1A state girls basketball tournament. Kyah Farr’s 13 points led the Miners in the loss. The Rebels next face No. 5 Piute Thursday at 8:30 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Lifetime Activities Center on the campus of Salt Lake Community College at Taylorsville.
JUNCTION, Utah-Braylee Randall posted 12 points and the No. 5 Piute Thunderbirds stonewalled No. 12 Escalante 47-34 in the second round of the 1A state girls basketball tournament Saturday. Rylee Frei led the Moquis in defeat with 15 points.
ORDERVILLE, Utah-Lindsey Franklin and Andee Anderson scored 12 points apiece and the No. 7 Valley Buffalos stonewalled No. 10 Monument Valley 42-29 Saturday in the second round of the 1A state girls basketball tournament. Dakotah Cly’s 15 points led the Cougars in the loss. Valley next faces No. 2 Wayne Thursday at 5:30 pm in the state quarterfinals at Salt Lake Community College.
BICKNELL, Utah-Lilly Morrill led the way with 12 points and the No. 2 Wayne Badgers pounded No. 15 Bryce Valley 71-30 in the second round of the 1A state girls basketball tournament Saturday. Ana-Lucia Lopez led the Mustangs in defeat with 12 points.
PANGUITCH, Utah-Tayt Miller posted 22 points and the No. 1 Panguitch Bobcats surged past No. 16 Water Canyon 45-36 Saturday in the second round of the 1A state girls basketball tournament. Tammra Johnson and Joann Barlow led the Wildcats with 11 points apiece in defeat. Panguitch next faces No. 9 Wendover Thursday at 7:00 pm in the state quarterfinals at Salt Lake Community College.
MANILA, Utah-Phoenix Duboise netted 18 points and the No. 9 Wendover Wildcats upset No. 8 Manila 70-65 in the second round of the 1A state girls basketball tournament Saturday. Kassali Wall’s game-high 28 points led the Mustangs in the loss.
No. 3 Tabiona 53 No. 14 Altamont 21. The Tigers will play No. 6 Whitehorse Thursday at 4:00 pm in the state quarterfinals at Salt Lake Community College.
MONTEZUMA CREEK, Utah-Jaidyn McMullin scored 24 points but it wasn’t enough as the No. 6 Whitehorse Raiders surged past No. 11 Milford 63-48 Saturday in the second round of the 1A state girls basketball playoffs.
