3-A State Championship Game

OGDEN, Utah-Ethan Rainer intercepted Nick Despain in the closing moments and the No. 3 Grantsville Cowboys outlasted No. 4 Morgan 14-10 to capture the 3-A state football title at Stewart Stadium Saturday evening.

Caleb Sullivan (25 car, 77 yards, 2 rush TD’s) and Gabe Mouritsen (14 touches, 127 scrimmage yards) were the Cowboys’ offensive stars on the evening as Grantsville ran for 217 yards.

William Lance (11 car, 57 yards TD) and Breau Johnson (40-yard field goal) starred for the Trojans in defeat.

This was Grantsville’s 4th all-time football state title. The Cowboys have recorded championships in 1992, 1996, 1997 and 2021.

This now concludes the high school football season for the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network. High school basketball commences Tuesday November 16.

 

2-A State Championship Game

OGDEN, Utah-Jace Palmer completed 15 of 22 passes for 252 yards and four touchdowns as the No. 1 San Juan Broncos bested No. 3 Beaver 34-21 Saturday at Stewart Stadium to win the 2-A state title. Ladd Ivins (8 rec, 85 yards, TD), Cooper Black (2 rec, 74 yards, TD) and Jersey Nieves (2 rec, 56 yards, 2 TD’s) each were among Palmer’s most productive targets as San Juan broke an 11-year state championship drought. The Broncos have now won seven state football titles, achieving them in 1989, 1998, 2000, 2006, 2009 and 2010.

Jayton Jessup (26 car, 137 yards, 2 TD’s), Tate Gale (rush TD) and Boston Black (5 rec, 112 yards) all had strong performances for Beaver in defeat. Statler Wright added 2 sacks defensively in the loss for Beaver.

1-A State Championship Game

OGDEN, Utah-Parker Crum (8-17, 118, yards, 3 TD’s) threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to backup quarterback Draker Goodliffe (3 rec, 81 yards, 2 TD’s) and the No. 1 Duchesne Eagles defended their seed with an 18-14 win over No. 6 seed Layton Christian Saturday at Stewart Stadium. This win secured the 1-A state championship for the Duchesne Eagles in the battle of the Eagles.

Westin Gines added a 9-yard scoring reception for Duchesne in the victory.

Layton Christian was led by Jesaia Moala (14 car, 157 yards, TD) and Ilai Jared Tagidugu who threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Zoram Petelo on a trick play.

This was Duchesne’s 7th all-time title in football. The Eagles have won state titles in 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2021.
