Miller, Singleton and Gerardi Sweep Big Sky Conference Player of the Week Awards

FARMINGTON, Utah-Monday, Southern Utah University football swept the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honors.

The Thunderbirds fell to San Jose State 45-14 Saturday at San Jose, Calif. in what is now known as Week Zero in Division I college football August 28.

SUU was represented by quarterback Justin Miller, freshman defensive back Kobe Singleton and redshirt junior punter Jake Gerardi in the honors this week.

Miller completed 15 of 29 passes for 117 yards and caught a touchdown off of a trick play for the T-Birds’ first points of the season.

Singleton intercepted Spartans quarterback Nick Starkel, returning the theft 18 yards for a score. He added three tackles for SUU on the evening.

Gerardi posted a 47.2 yards punting average Saturday. This included a 70-yard punt. Presently, that is the longest punt in Division I this season.

SUU returns to action swiftly as they visit Arizona State Thursday evening.
