FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-Wednesday, BYU defensive coordinator/safeties coach Jay Hill was named as a nominee for the Broyles Award, which is annually presented to college football’s top assistant coach.

Hill has played an instrumental role in the Cougars’ 9-2 record, which presently has them ranked No. 19 nationally and tied for first place in the Big 12 Conference.

Hill came to BYU from Weber State, where he served as the Wildcats’ head coach from 2014-2022, going 68-39 (.636).

A native of Lehi, Utah, Hill starred at Utah as an all-Mountain West Conference second team performer at cornerback for the Utes in 1998 and 1999.
