Former Weber State Coach Joe Cravens To Be Honored By Utah Sports Hall of Fame

SALT LAKE CITY-Late Monday, former it was confirmed that Weber State men’s basketball head coach Joe Cravens is being honored by the Utah Sports Hall of Fame.

Cravens, who went 116-88 (.569) from 1999-2006 at Weber State and took the Wildcats to the 2003 NCAA Tournament, will receive a Coach of Merit honor and be recognized at the 2022 Spring Honor and Awards Banquet Wednesday April 6 at Little America Hotel of Salt Lake City.

Cravens went 170-141 (.547) as a Division I head coach, including stints at Utah (1989-90; he went 12-12 for the Utes) and Idaho (1993-1996).

Cravens was also an assistant for Ron Abegglen for the Wildcats squad that defeated North Carolina in the first round of the 1999 NCAA Tournament as the No. 14 seed.

After leaving the Wildcats, Cravens coached the St. Joseph Catholic High School Jayhawks of Ogden’s girls squad, leading them to a state championship.
