IRVING, Texas-Monday, a pair of University of Utah football standouts were named as candidates for the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame.
Former Utes safety Eric Weddle (2003-2006) and head coach Urban Meyer (2003-2004) each received inclusion on the preliminary ballot.
During his time with the Utes, Weddle posted 18 interceptions (three pick-sixes), five sacks and 13.5 tackles for a loss.
Meyer went 22-2 (.917) at Utah and led the Utes to the Fiesta Bowl, becoming the first non-power 5 team to bust the Bowl Championship Series barrier.
Utah routed Pittsburgh 35-7 that season at the Fiesta Bowl.
