Calun Whitaker of Millard’s Win At UVU All-Star Duals Highlights Strong Showings For Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network Athletes Tuesday

OREM, Utah-Tuesday, Millard star wrestler Calun Whitaker excelled at the All-Star wrestling duals at UVU, headlining a strong showing for many athletes from the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network who competed at the event.

Competing at 220 pounds, Whitaker vanquished Pleasant Grove’s Maika Tauteoli in a 12-8 decision, giving him a win over the top wrestler in the state at that weight.

Furthermore, against traditional big-school wrestling power Wasatch, Juab’s Connor Ingram downed Mitchel Slack at 126 pounds. Also, at the 126-pound division, Millard’s Van Bray bested Uintah’s Cub Deets 11-6.

Additionally, at 120 pounds, Beaver’s Brian Evans downed Spanish Fork’s Layne Shepherd 6-1.

At 145 pounds, Juab’s Cade Bowring bested Chance Parker of Ridgeline 6-4.

At 195 pounds, Tate Johnson of North Sevier earned a 6-0 rout of Westlake’s Zach Warren. Also at this weight, Delta’s Bowen Shields took a “fall” victory over Dawson Woods of Alta. This bout consisted of only 31 seconds of competition.

Finally, at 285 pounds, North Sevier’s Tanner Sorenson took a 2:19 win over Dalton Clark of Union as his competitor succumbed to a fall as well.

Athletes taking losses from Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network schools included Denim Torgerson of Richfield and Mack Bray of Millard at 113 pounds, Maverik Caldwell of Delta at 120 pounds, Brock Edwards of Beaver at 138 pounds, Hayden Anderson of Millard at 145 pounds, Cannon Fullenbach of South Sevier and Walker Burr of North Sevier at 152 pounds, Bryson Barnes of Milford at 170 pounds and Rylan Watts of Juab at 182 pounds.
