PROVO, Utah-In news confirmed Monday, BYU men’s basketball head coach Mark Pope announced the hiring of Michael Davie as the program’s Director of Strength Conditioning & Sports Science last Friday.
Davie previously served as the Milwaukee Bucks’ senior strength and conditioning program before coming to BYU.
Davie played a key role in helping the Bucks’ superstar forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo, become the NBA’s MVP in 2021, and helped his teammate, forward Joe Ingles, rehabilitate from a torn ACL during the 2021-22 season.
Davie, a native Maori from New Zealand, has also served as a strength and conditioning coach at the Queensland Academy of Sport of Australia and as the strength and conditioning coach for the Australian Swimming Team (2011-2013).
Davie also has experience with the Brisbane Roar FC of Australia as a strength and conditioning coach. Davie and his wife, Diana, were married 25 years ago at the Sydney Australia Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have five children.
