SALT LAKE CITY-Jake Gatewood homered and added a 2-RBI double as the Salt Lake Bees outlasted El Paso 6-5 Wednesday at Smith’s Ballpark in Pacific Coast League play.

Jake Kalish posted three strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work to improve to 6-1 on the season for the Bees.

Shogo Akiyama homered in defeat for the Chihuahuas who nearly overcame a 6-0 deficit only to fall short in their half of the 9th Inning.

The Bees improve to 28-22 on the season in victory while El Paso falls to 27-23 with the loss.

The Bees and Chihuahuas return to action Thursday at 6:35 pm at Smith’s Ballpark.
