SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH-The Beaver girls golf team won their second straight 2A state championship Tuesday by shooting 371 as a team, eight strokes ahead of second place American Heritage. Waterford finished in third place, followed by South Sevier and Saint Joseph rounded out the top five. For other area schools, Millard placed sixth and North Sevier came in eighth.
Individually Waterford’s Evelyn Azares was the top medalist with a 9-over par 81 to place first. Bethany Braddy of American HerItage finished in second place two strokes behind. Millard’s Lindsey Starley and Beaver’s Heidi Harris tied for third place, each shooting an 85 and Anna Eggertsen of American Heritage rounded out the top five with an 86. For other area golfers Beaver’s Taisley Marshall placed sixth and her teammate Sunnie Moon took seventh, while Wasatch Academy’s Emily Nicholson placed eighth and South Sevier’s Whitley Goble tied for 10th.
