10 Utah State Football Players Honored By Mountain West Conference

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Wednesday, 10 Utah State football players made the various all-Mountain West Conference squads as the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based conference announced its postseason awards.

The (7-5, 6-2 in conference play) Aggies were represented on the squad by four offensive players, four defensive players and two special teams standouts.

Boise State, who plays for a conference title Saturday by hosting Hawaii, had 19 players on the various squads to lead the Mountain West.

On the first team, the Aggies were represented by senior kicker Domink Eberle (19-22 on field goal attempts; 40-40 on PAT attempts), junior kick returner Savon Scarver (29.3 yards per return, sixth nationally; 2 TD’s) and junior linebacker David Woodward (a team-best 93 tackles, tied for the team lead with two sacks and a team-best four forced fumbles in only seven games before incurring a season-ending injury).

Making the second team for Utah State were senior defensive end Tipa Galeai (a team-best 8 tackles for a loss and five sacks) and senior graduate transfer receiver Siaosi Mariner (56 rec, 874 yards, 8 TD’s).

Aggies earning honorable mention honors included senior tailback Gerold Bright (161 car, 827 yards, 8 TD’s; 5.1 yards per carry), senior graduate transfer tight end Caleb Repp (36 rec, 455 yards, 4 TD’s), senior defensive tackle Christopher Unga (2.5 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks), junior safety Shaq Bond (a team-best 3 interceptions, 3.5 tackles for a loss) and junior signal-caller Jordan Love, who completed 60.6 percent of his passes (263-434) for 3,085 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
