Utah Supreme Court Postpones Petito Appeal

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Supreme Court is postponing oral arguments in the lawsuit filed by Gabby Petito’s parents against the Moab City Police Department. The hearing had been scheduled for today but will be rescheduled for a later date. Petito’s family is trying to revive a wrongful-death claim accusing officers of failing to act after a witness reported her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, struck her during a 2021 incident. Petito was later found dead in Wyoming, and her family is seeking 50-million-dollars in damages. Authorities say Laundrie killed the 22-year-old while the couple was traveling across the country.
