(Salt Lake City, UT) — Respiratory illnesses are rising across Utah. The Department of Health and Human Services reports what health officials describe as a rapid increase in flu case over the past week. Those cases dramatically outpaces both RSV and COVID-19 patients, and most people coming down with the flu were between the ages of 5 and 24. Cases of RSV and COVID-19 also went up over the past week, when three COVID-19 patients died. Health officials say “now” is the best time to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu. The CDC recommends vaccinations for people with an increased risk of severe RSV, which includes adults over 60, as well as infants and young children.
