Two men face felony charges after a pair of fights in Junction early on Aug. 4. According to court records, arrest warrants were issued in 6th District Court on Aug. 9 for Wesley Fautin, age 33 of Monroe, and Shawn Hayward, age 48 of Herriman. According to reports, the fight broke out sometime between midnight and 1:00 a.m. after a dance event tied to the Piute County Fair. Fautin began to attack a 22-year-old man. A 20-year-old tried to intervein, kicking Fautin in the face before a Piute County Sheriff’s deputy broke up the fight. Both were asked to wait by their trucks while he tended to the 22 year old. Witnesses told deputies, Hayward then approached the 20-year-old and grabbed him by the throat, lifting him off the ground by the neck. Fautin approached and punched the 20-year-old several times. The man was taken by ambulance to Sevier Valley hospital before being flown to a hospital in Northern Utah where he remains hospitalized. Fautin and Hayward have both been charged with two second-degree felony counts of aggravated assault, one resulting in serious bodily injury and the other producing a loss of consciousness.
