Three Ephraim Officers Resigning

Three Ephraim Police department officers have submitted their resignations to the city council effective Wednesday night at 8:30 pm, if Police Chief Ron Rasmussen resumes his duties. The officers are the ones that brought allegations of misconduct against Rasmussen. The Utah County Sheriff Department investigated and determined that there was no criminal activity and Rasmussen was cleared to return to his position. City officials have said that changes will be implemented to correct deficiencies in the way the Chief was performing his duties, but the officers stated that they have lost faith in the Chief and the city officials who reinstated him. The city was already looking to add another officer to the force to help free up Rasmussen to focus on administrative duties, but the city will now be looking for four officers. City Manager Brant Hanson commented that the department has been suffering for some time and that this will give the city the opportunity to start fresh and build a more cohesive department. The resigning officers are Larry Golding, Jared Hansen, and Darren Pead.
