Tech Group Sues Utah Over App Store Age Verification Law

(Undated) — A tech trade group is suing Utah over a new app store law. The Computer and Communications Industry Association filed the lawsuit yesterday, arguing the App Store Accountability Act violates the First Amendment by requiring age verification and parental consent for minors before downloading apps or making in-app purchases. The law, signed by Governor Spencer Cox, is scheduled to require age checks beginning May 6th, with enforcement starting December 31st.
