(Salt Lake City, UT) — A state task force met on Monday to discuss school building safety in Utah. School buildings throughout the state vary from decades old to newly-built, and officials want to make sure they’re all equally safe. During the hearing, experts discussed about 40 indicators of safe school buildings, and also touched on the topic of mental health several times. District 7 Representative Ryan Wilcox and other experts on the topic concluded that safety features such as surveillance cameras, reinforced glass, and locking doors make for the safest schools.
