Thanks to a USDA Rural Development Grant, Sterling Town will begin redevelopment of the upper and lower ponds in Forbush Cove to collect more water for its residents. The grant took a year to come to fruition, and the town wasn’t sure it would even come through. So, it was a nice surprise when they found out the funding had come through. Plans include digging out the springs, making one of the ponds bigger, installing state-of-the-art collection boxes for the water, and running a new pipeline connecting the two ponds. The city will be taking bids in the next few months and hopes to have the project started before the end of the year.
