Richfield starting new Christmas tradition

A new Christmas activity is coming to Richfield this year.

Richfield City Mayor Dave Ogden is hoping people join together to sing Christmas carols on Saturday at the city park.

This “Christmas walk” was the idea of Lucile Brown, an 11-year old who presented her idea to the Mayor.

“And I thought, what a great idea,” Mayor Ogden said.

The plan is to have people park at either the Pahvant school, the School District office, the library or Christensen’s West parking lot. From there, everyone will walk toward the Christmas tree at the city park at 7 p.m.

Mayor Odgen says he hopes it becomes part of the community for years.

“We see this developing into something that really would be a great tradition for our city,” Mayor Ogden said.

You can sing whatever you like, but once everyone is together at the park, the carols to be sung are the First Noel, O Christmas Tree, Silent Night, Come All Ye Faithful, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
