Proclamation, plan for temples unveiled at Mormon conference

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has presented a new proclamation and announced the opening of eight new temples during its annual conference. Church President Russell Nelson unveiled the proclamation and the temple expansions Sunday during the 190th Annual General Conference. There was no public attendance as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, with church leaders speaking from a room in Temple Square rather than the church’s 21,000-seat conference center in Salt Lake City. The proclamation outlining core Latter-day Saint beliefs was only the sixth in the church’s history.
