Power Update for Wayne County & Surrounding Areas

Garkane Energy has given a power update for Wayne County and the surrounding areas. In a press release they shared that due to the impact of the Monroe Canyon Fire they will be switching the main transmission load to their generators starting the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 6. Due to this they are asking residents to help conserve electricity through the morning of Saturday, Aug. 9, as crews work to repair the damaged lines. They ask customers to: set thermostats to 78 degrees, do laundry before Wednesday, use water heaters sparingly and cut back on anything extra or non-essentials that use electricity. They closed the release by stating, “your efforts will help our generators handle the load while our crews, working 16-hour days, replace burnt structures and restore full service. We truly appreciate your patience, support, and conservation efforts during this time. Let’s work together to keep our community powered and safe!”
