The Mt. Pleasant Power Department presented a rate study to the city council last week. The study, which was conducted by Unity Financial Solutions of Holland Michigan, revealed the department is losing a significant amount of money. The biggest culprit is the overall price of electricity and how quickly those prices are rising from outside providers. Mt. Pleasant does generate some of it’s own power, but relies on outside sources to meet the cities needs. To combat the loss the city plans to raise rates fairly soon.
