The Meadow Creek Fire in Millard County is now 90% contained following rain showers.
The fire has grown to 4,231 acres and the rain Wednesday made travel difficult for firefighters, but they were able to build new containment lines and reinforce existing lines.
Firefighters began repairing fences and other activities to mitigate the impact of fire suppression. U.S. Forest Service employees worked with those who had cattle permits to reach their cattle and all are accounted for and are uninjured.
Fire activity is expected to be minimal today and the northwest winds will help with the current containment.
Personnel and equipment are being released to go home or to new assignments. The fire fighting operation is still staffed with required resources to complete the work.
There are closures on some forest roads that will remain in effect until October 1.
