Manti City ordinance hearing draws large crowd

It was a full house at a Manti City Council public hearing on Wednesday as the Mayor and City Council heard concerns from Manti citizens about a proposed zoning ordinance.  While many in the audience agreed something needs to be done, the majority of the residents and business owners spoke in opposition to this proposal, citing too much government oversight and regulation of individual properties, signage and business exteriors.  Business owners also said they were never approached for their input before the ordinance was drafted.  Mayor Kory Soper and the council members said they appreciated the input from the community, and they wanted to form a committee of citizens and business owners who could take the suggestions and begin another draft of the ordinance.
