A man was found dead at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Kane County after a multi day search. Just before noon on Apr. 13, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a potential overdue person. Neal Mower, age 67 from Ivins, had purchased a one-day pass at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park on Apr. 10. On Apr. 13, other individuals realized his vehicle had been there several days, but they had not seen Mower. According to a press release, “Kane County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue was dispatched along with the Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter out of St. George.” Crews searched the area until dark with no success. On Apr. 14, the Kanab Area BLM Field Office joined the search and Mower was located by the helicopter crew about 1.8 miles from his vehicle, deceased. According to the press release, “the scene was processed by a medical investigator from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Mr. Mower was transferred to Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab for transport to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office in Salt Lake City for further investigation into the cause of his death.”
