(Springdale, UT) — A man is dead after a rappelling accident at Zion National Park over the weekend. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says the 40-year-old fell nearly 200 feet near Emerald Pool on Saturday and a helicopter was needed to remove him from the area. Life Flight arrived to take the man to the hospital, but he was declared dead at the scene. Three other people in the party had to be pulled out yesterday and were given supplies to last through the night.
