Love says she’s ready to run for House seat held by McAdams

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (AP) — Former Utah Congresswoman Mia Love says she’s poised to run in 2020 for the Republican nomination to challenge the Democrat who last year denied her a third term in the U.S. House.

The Deseret News reports that Love said in an interview Friday that she’s ready to run for the 4th Congressional District seat unless a Republican she considers strong enough to unseat Democrat Ben McAdams enters the race.

She also said she won’t run unless it’s necessary to do so to return the seat to Republican control.

Love is currently a commentator for CNN.

McAdams defeated Love by fewer than 800 votes. The district includes parts of Salt Lake and Utah counties.

McAdams told the Deseret News that “it’s far too early to focus on the election.”
