(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will open 36 new missions in 2024. This was an announcement the church made yesterday. The new missions that will open around the world on July 1st will raise the total number of missions to 450, the most in church history. The biggest expansions will be in Africa, where the church will add nine missions, the U.S. with ten, Mexico and South America with seven, and Asia and the Philippines, each with three. New missions also will open in Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Germany, and Portugal. There are currently more than 72-thousand LDS missionaries serving around the world.
